It's one of the most pleasurable AKs that I shoot. The adjustable ACE stock has a great feel and height...and clears the action. With all of the mods it comes to 6 pounds loaded. True that it's front heavy but doesn't bother me for what I use it for, weights about the same as any of my Romy builds with wood furniture. ......as opposed as to what the internet haters (from my ignore list) may say.

Did a little work on .308 number two. Added a MI scope mount, Warne rings, Mueller Tac II 3-10x44 scope, ITC cheekrest, and a Russian sling. QD rings on a QD mount is redundant, but I already had them from a previous rifle and they were the perfect height for this application. |

I currently have an Eotech mounted on the Molot, but am always looking for a lighter, lower combo. |

I currently have an Eotech mounted on the Molot, but am always looking for a lighter, lower combo. I really like the MI mount, the ADM clamp rocks, brilliant idea. Weight savings is marginal, although I haven't weighed them side-by-side, I don't believe the MI mount is a whole lot lighter than the Molot. As I expected, the lower MI mount forced me to go with taller rings to clear the RSB versus the Molot mount. Didn't gain anything going with a lower mount, but I wanted to try a different mount just to keep it interesting. |

I'd like to put something similar on mine by threading the barrel but I don't see a way to add the plunger on that type of front sight base. Doesn't seem thick enough to drill the plunger hole. |

It was imported that way from Gunsimporter.com when they were bringing in Veprs. I have never seen a Vepr come in with a factory flash hider except for the batch of .308s they brought in. On my other .308 Vepr, I threaded the barrel 5/8-24 and installed a PWS brake but did not use a detent pin. I used an ultra-high temp threadlocker called Rocksett. It is popular with the suppressor crowd. Has not budged in 800+ rounds of use since installing the brake. Good stuff. A jam nut would work as well.  |

Carved that useless comb off the butt stock and installed a Karsten cheek rest on the 23" .308. Refinished the stock with BLO. An outstanding cheek weld is the end result. The height of the Karsten above the top of the butt stock should give you some idea just how lacking the factory stock is for a cheek weld with scope use. A little more work than I anticipated because the Russians like to change things up it seems. I know there are at least 4 variations of .308 thumbhole stocks out there because I've experienced them all firsthand.  |

My Vepr in 5.45 from Arms of America, finally complete.
Dinzag's Lower hand guard retainer and Vepr Gas tube with Kvar Furniture CNC Warrior AK74 style brake threaded from 15x1RH Molot grip from Carolina Shooters supply Troy battle ax stock on the Bonesteel Arms/CNC Warrior Vepr Folding stock system. Available at OST. Mag's have US followers from "bluegrasshopper" from arfcom and US floor plates from AK builder.

Hey ddnc, Where in the world did you get that buttstock and hand grip? Man, if we could only buy them in the U.S.A. Good job on the forearm!
My apologizes ddnc, after closer look at ur photos, i see that it's a possible ZDF/Robarm import. The mod to the cheek weld and grip tape threw me off. I thought it was a current production gun and mod job. very nice rod |
Here's mine (bad cell phone pic):
16in barrel in .308. Scope is POSP 3-9x42. Had the scope and mount from a Saiga build I planned on doing until I came across the VEPRs. I've since added a Vickers sling and some foam from some ammo cans to the buttstock to get a better "chin" weld. I pre-ordered a TSD folding stock assembly, but I really like the classic look with the wooden stock, so I think I will go with a kydex cheek riser blank that I can mold myself to make it work with the comb stock. I have read of guys molding them to one side more than the other, so I imagine I can make it work. Decisions, decisions... Put 110 rounds through it last Saturday. Zeroing the POSP was pretty straight forward after some online reading and I was able to tag steel pretty consistantly at about 500m, even with the poor cheek weld. Once it came off the bench and was rested on my assault pack I was able to achieve a more steady firing position. Was unable to measure MOA since the range was pretty busy, so moving down to check the groups would have been a hindrance to everyone else. I'll go down on a weekday when it isn't so busy and check it out. |

Took care of something that has bugged me for a long time: a bipod mounted to a non-free floating handguard. Not a good thing for accuracy. I wish someone would develop a free-floating handguard for AKs, as of now no such thing exists. Bipod is now mounted to the receiver via a picatinny rail. Nothing touches the handguard and therefore no pressure is exerted on the barrel.   |
