OKAY! I am finally going to thread my saiga conversion, I cut off the thread protector I nicked some of the barrel but the threading should take care of it anyway my question here is, how would you make the compensator permanent without access to a welder. Could I use a propane torch and silver solder I was thinking this http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/pid=645/Product/HOMOGENIZED-SOLDER. I'd hate to drop 400 on a welder that I'd only use once or unless someone wants to give me 4 more saigas to convert

I've never soldered, but from my understanding of the laws during the ban period, it had to be permanent. Not easily removed by any means. You'd be better off having someone throw a tac weld on there for you IMO.

I know of no one with a welder The ATF says a silver solder that melts at 1100 degrees is legal that's why I'm asking about that method.

well if you can solder, and have the right stuff, the that's the route I would take. You could also look into blind pinning the brake.

Propane will not heat hot enough to melt 1100 degree silver solder.

You can use MAAP gas, I did it many times during the Federal AWB.
