Alright, I'm about to order a SGL31 side folder from my local FFL.  My question is which should I get? The triangular side folder or the solid side folder?  Is there a practical advantage to one or the other or is it just cosmetic?

Solid feels better, triangular looks better.

Only practical advantage that the poly has over the triangle is it won't freeze your face off in subzero temps but to me that's balanced by the ability to add an SVD cheekpad to the triangle folder which really helps with optics.

When it comes to pulling the trigger on an AK I can't tell the difference between either one.

I like them both but prefer the polymer for comfort and aesthetics.  With that said, I am trying to get my hands on one of these:

Russian telescoping folding buttstock.

Triangle stock with Russian laminate up front FTW

the triangle stocks are harder to find than the poly, Go triangle and buy a spare poly for it, then you have the best of both.
