I just saw this advertisement at Atlantic Firearms.
"Coming Soon!! Vepr AK47 Rifle Russian Molot Heavy Duty Vepr AK 74 Rifles for Sale". I just read this in the industry link. Question (Team member AKsRule asked): Are "Vepr's coming back ?" Answer (AF):"Yes we are getting in a shipment of Russian Vepr rifles in 762 x 39 & .308 this week , in the future we hope to expand the product line into 5.45 x 39 & 762 x 54 R !!." Special thanks to "AKsRule", Good Job. Here is the link. http://www.atlanticfirearms.com/ By the way, Robinson Arms is selling VEPRs. The link is below. http://www.robarm.com/veprs.aspx 2-17-11 UPDATE! I spoke to a Atlantic Firearms representative today. He confirmed that they do have a limited number of new Russian VEPRs in stock. The current models don't accept high capacity magazines: however, this may change in the near future. He explained that Atlantic Firearms may sell some modified VEPRs. From my understanding Red Jacket may do the builds. I'd like to take this time to thank Atlantic Firearms for bringing back the VEPR to the US. You guys ROCK! |

A vepr K is just a normal vepr with robarms poly stocks on them.
I have a vepr K and I'm buying stock VEPR wood to put on it as I find the Poly stock fits me poorly. I'm sure the molds are around someplace. If the rifles keep coming in we will see the stocks sold again. |
|
so like with a saiga could i put a normal buttstock and pg on a vepr?
or would i be better off getting a saiga for 375 and putting 130 dollars into it to make it look similar to an ak? btw i know a vepr is the ultimate ak i just cant justify spending more for one than a arsenal if i cant mod it to my desires |

Making the vepr 2 more of a hunter than fighter. They are not exactly the same.. |

When I bought my .308 it was listed as a Vepr K but it is actually just a vepr II |

can they accept normal ak47 buttstocks and pistol grips? No. They have a 1/2 triangle cut out of the rear of the receiver. Why? to meet "Sporting Purpose" clause on imports. Robinson had a stock that would compensate for this, but the fact is it turned alot of "purists" aka collectors, buffs, whatever....off. Very, very fine rifles though. $850 to $950? Well, that's up to you, your wallet and possibly the wife unit Nice addition to the market and many will be sold My hat off to the importer - great idea BTW, what happened to all the geniuses here that said Molot didn't exist - a purchase, consolidation and death by Izmash? Never underestimate misinformation. Especially Russian, Eastern Block and European gun-related information.

$840 for a gun that takes low-cap 10 rd single stack mags? you have got to be kidding - I'll pass. They are double stack magazines. On the 7.62x39 you probably need to add a bullet guide, and alter the magazine catch slightly.... Or modify AK-47 magazines to fit. |

Its nice to see these rifles being imported again! My Vepr K is one rifle that I would never get rid of... http://i1089.photobucket.com/albums/i345/mrfuninthesun/veprdrum2.jpg Nice VEPR! This is my girl. The drum is Romanian. http://i1089.photobucket.com/albums/i345/mrfuninthesun/veprdrun.jpg |

oh - that's cool it's double stack. funny how Robinson Arms suddenly found a bunch of Vepr's to unload right about the same time a new importer started bringing them in. Good point. I was wondering why RobArm suddenly "found" those. I don't see what advantage a VEPR has over a Saiga, other than being 2.5X as expensive and heavier. |

The Vepr series rifles have a heavy contour, hammer-forged barrel coupled with a RPK receiver that is 50% thicker than your standard AK variant. Given decent ammo or better yet, careful handloads, the Vepr is capable of very tight groups for an AK. I have a .223 Vepr II and and early model .308 wooden-stocked Vepr and both are pretty damn accurate.
Where is Robinson arms selling Vepr rifles again? I can't find these doing internet searches. |

That's actually some very nice furniture.... |

Quoted: That's actually some very nice furniture.... The wood on the new Veprs is quite nice, love the look of the wood on my new .308. |
| VEPRs are definitely worth the price. A friend of mine has a 7.62x39 version with the black plastic furniture, and it is extremely nice. After you shoot one, you won't like the cheaper models nearly as much. I equate it with the time I had the opportunity to drive an Audi S8 with the Lamborghini V10 in it. After that, EVERYTHING I drive feels sub-par... once you go quality you don't ever want to go back. |

After using it for awhile, it made other Ak actually feel cheap and flimsy to me. |
