| Can someone help me understand 922r compliance in simple terms? |

An AK has up to 16 countable parts. 16 with removable muzzle brake, 15 with fixed or no muzzle brake
No more than 10 can be foreign made. That means you need 5 parts to be US made if you have either a fixed muzzle brake (like tack welded on) or no muzzle brake. If yours is removable you need 6 US parts to be compliant The common US parts are: Fire control group counts as 3 parts: Trigger (1) Disconnector (1) Hammer (1) Handguards (1) Upper and lower must both be US and are counted as one part Pistol grip (1) Stock (1) You can also use US made mags for additional compliance parts Mag body (1) Floor plate (1) Follower (1) If you use a US made magazine it counts as a total of 3 parts. On My SLR105 I have a fixed brake, it was welded on by the smith who did a side folder conversion on it. That means my 105 needs 5 parts. The parts I use are: Fire control group (3), pistol grip (1) and hand guards (1) My stock is bulgarian and thats why the guy who did the conversion welded the brake on, because it was also bulgarian and would have left me at 11 total foreign parts. My SGL31's have a removable brake, so they need 6 parts. The compliance parts are: Fire control group (3), US brake (1), floor plates (1), followers (1) The stock, PG and HG's are foreign and don't count. The mags are also foreign but I switched out the floor plates and followers to make them worth 2 parts. I did this with every mag I own to be on the safe side. The easiest thing to do is just change out the FGC and the furniture, that will give you 6 parts and let you use a foreign brake. Z |
