I have noticed that the trigger on my saiga 308 has a lot of creep and goes way back and almost upwards at a 45 degree angle.  Is it just my smoke pole or are all saigas like this?

Open the receiver and look at how the trigger is put together.  It was bastardized like that to comply with import restrictions.

The 308 models are the easiest of all Saigas to convert back to AK configuration.  You can find the details in the AK forums.

Normal.  Its more like the Norinco Hunter design than the other Saiga link-type systems.

I'm guessing it's not converted (moving the FCG forward). If not, then yes...
Doing the conversion moves the trigger forward (where it is supposed to be), removing the linkage that's required to enable the saiga to function with the trigger moved back.

I would suggest doing a conversion. You'll notice a much better trigger..
