I was wondering if the Imported Siagas like the one pictured below can accept regular wood forends. I had a Romanian before, and I want to get a higher quality AK. I Would like a Siaga, but I hate the plastic forend. Is it easy to remove, and is it the same size specs as other AK foreends? (not incuding Yugos of course)

Also, does anyone know if the barrel is threaded?

No, it doesn't take regular handguards without modification.  The existing handguard is easy to remove but it is not a standard spec that way.

No, the barrel isn't threaded.  In fact, it has a sort of "shroud" covering the barrel that you have to cut off before you can thread it.

Still a very good quality AK.

Dinzag Arms sells a bolt on lower handguard retainer. They also sell a replacement gas tube. You will need both if you want to install standard handguards. You can also rent a barrel threading kit from them.

Or whack out the retaining pins and press off the fsb and gb, slip on the std hg retainer, notch bbl for it's new retainer, and attach a full threaded fsb.
