New Romanian picture thread (Page 26 of 26)

My WASR-10 which is my only AK right now. I was not happy with light colored furniture so bought some Romanian surplus furniture. I stripped the varnish off and refinished the stock. Also bought a Bakelite pistol grip and am using a Polish AK sling.

This thread seems slow.
2019 Wasr. Romanian laminate furniture, cleaned and refinished in a couple coats of shellac. Romanian grip. Surplus Polish (?) sling, and bayonet. I haven't decided if I'm completely happy with the wood yet. Wanted to go all laminate with palm swell handguards, but didn't want to stray from Romy parts too much, not to mention surplus furniture options are limited. Figured Romy wood, with a bit of shellac is fairly honest and accurate, without going too far with a mile deep, glossy clear coat or bright red stains that seem to be all the rage. More subdued in natural light, but before changing the grip. Had to make a grip screw since the Century grip uses a too large socket head cap screw, and the surplus screw I ordered got lost in the mail...

Evolution of a WASR...
So far it's had the stock Century blond furniture, Romanian laminate with the neutered dong, Romy laminate with hardwood palm swell, and now Romy laminate with the full dong. I definitely prefer the feel of the palm swell, but prefer the look of laminate. The dong is only comfortable as an angled foregrip, and it gets in the way of mag changes, but it's iconic Romanian. Still looking for a laminated palm swell and upper handguard.

WASR 10/63 from Henderson. It's a "select" with the stained stock and polished bolt that I picked up right before 0bama was elected. I bought two and made the mistake of selling one. Attached File |

Here's my WASr-10 i got yrs ago for dirt cheap. I heard alot of people dislike the look of the handguard and stock...but i think its pretty cool looking. Tried to go for a more orange/bakelite color i saw on reddit, didn't come out like that way. i still like it though it has some orange in it kinda haha.

Just picked-up this SAR-1 for $800. Straight to the parts bin for some Romy Laminate wood, old Romy PG, & sling. Also threaded the barrel. Can't tell if the front sight is canted. Doesn't look like it. Looks like the gas block is canted. Waiting on some laminate palm swell hand guards. Taking it out to shoot tomorrow.

I had been looking to add a 5.45x39 to my safe so the M70AB2 wasn't lonely. I lucked into this ban era uber low round count Romy. It was still in 100% ban configuration. Two Rivers Arms fixed part of that for me. They replaced the muzzle cover with a custom machined threaded device that they pressed and pinned to the end of the barrel. Let me tell you it is timed perfectly! We tried an authentic AK-74 FSB but the barrel was a smaller OD. The brake snugs up just right to TDC for the plunger to engage. I got the rifle, two bakelite mags and 1000 rounds of ammo for $1800. My next step is to find a stock set that looks as good as the one that's on it. That Dragunov looks menacing but it's so bulky I feel like I'm holding a piece of 2x4.
