I have read the thread on converting a low cap to high cap.  Someone said to watch out as some of the Romie trunions are different and I may have to swap it out.  Now harrass me all you want, but what is the trunion and how hard are they to replace?  Should I just keep this one as a low cap and buy a high cap one?  Also, someone said that sometimes the recievers are cut so you can't add a pistol grip.  How would I know if this was the case with mine?

Swapping the trunion is real work, but the issues you mention are news to me.

I just recently reacquired a WASR-10 single stack that was on loan to a friend for about 1.5 yrs. As soon as I got it back I started to un-neuter it. I read the article on converting it from single stack to hi-cap mags. I busted the dremel out and opened up the receiver for the wider Hi-cap. But once I finished I realized the fucking trunnion was different. It had never crossed my mind it would be a different trunnion from my other WASR and my yugo. I almost shit when I saw it. Needless to say I spent the next four hours dremmeling and grinding the trunnion to get the mag to fit. I managed to get it done but there is a considerable amount of mag wobble from grinding down the mag tabs on the inside of the receiver. The only real other problem I ran into was that I managed to grind into the feedramp(FUCK!!!). Kinda fucked it up but I managed to get the mag to feed right again by redoing the feed ramp.........

All in all it was a lesson learned. I could have easily just ordered a barrel w/ trunnion from CFS for $60. Which is what I am going to do anyway, but I wanted to see if it was possible to make the best out of a shitty situation

Must be a 1 in 10 thing or something.  The low cap is how they come into the country.  Hell maybe CIA spots em and those are the ones they are letting out as Low caps now.  Dunno,   but that could be the case.  The ones they cannot convert stay as Single stacks.  Seems like a good plan.  But I think it is more of a facotry out of the correct parts issue,

The latest WASR10's I saw at the gun shows had the high capacity trunion.  Mine had the low capacity trunion.  You don't swap out the trunion, you either get lucky and just have to remove the sheet metal or sheet metal and mill out the trunion.

BTW, if you use a rotary file with your dremil, be sure to have a good strong magnet at your side to remove the tiny metal slivers that my be covering you.
