| I was just wondering how to "break" my rifle in. It's a few days away from going to pick up my WASR-10 and I just wanted a couple steps or pointers in how to do it. BTW this is my first rifle. |

I wouldn't worry about it. Main thing is just to take the rifle completely apart and scrub off all the cosmoline before you shoot it. A light coat of gun oil afterwards should be sufficient to protect it, but getting the cosmoline off is important because it will bake onto the rifle as it heats up and mess up your finish as well as plug up internal parts and even the BARREL if you don't check it prior to use! ! The only rifles that I see really needing a break-in period are choppo parts guns like the CETME which operate better after the parts wear on each other for a few hundred rounds. |
