How do you remove the barrel? How much of a pain in the ass is it to remove it and re-assemble?

Well I have'nt done it but I see no one has responded...You'll have to get the rivet's out of each side by the barrel then it should come out..You wanting too replace the barrel????

Have not done it either.  The barrel is a press fit and with rivets removed is no trivial task to install or remove.  Gotta have a big reason for doing this.

Brilliant...

What the hell was Kalashnikov thinking when he designed that? "Hehe, now they'll never remove the barrel! *Evil pinky*"

what do you need to remove the barrel for?  give a smith a call.  i'm sure ohio rapid fire could do a switch for you for not too much dough.

I wanted to switch out to a Krink barrel with fake suppressor.

But, I mean, jesus; if it's that hard to remove and what not - I'm not going to bother.

I mean, in 10 minutes I can have just about any length barrel installed on an AR-15...

He was thinking cheap, reliable, easy to manufacture, and disposable.  When it breaks, you throw it in the can and pick up another.

...Yeah, but that doesn't make up for the fact I'm stuck with this damn thing.

And, I'll tell you that I'd still drop my SAR in a second for an AR. The SAR is just there for fun and because of my wallet. Are AKs nice? Yep, but I'd still rather have the AR.

No need to mess with the rivets unless you intend to change the trunnion, the barel is pressed in and also has one big pin that helps hold it in place.AKs are cheap, reliable and the barel can be changed out easily by a Smith.Give In Range or ORF a call for a price quote,I'm sure you'll be surprised.
