Hey folks, Picked up a Romanian SAR-1 today with a fixed folder, is the fixed folder able to be removed and replaced with a wood stock? If so, is it any different than removing a wood stock? Thanks. |

Stock is a little stuck on the SAR-2, and the other AK doesn't like my screwdriver. Anyway, I pulled the fixed folder off. End of the receiver and the tang are pretty much identical to the SAR-2. It comes off same as the wood stocks. Unscrew the two screws and pull it off. It sticks a little, but then comes right off. Whatever wood you like (polymer?) for a stamped receiver should fit it A-OK. Guessing you might be doing the same thing I am to the SAR-1. I got it (good deal too) with the fixed folder because the SAR-1 supply is pretty much gone. Figured I'd clean it up some and slap nice stocks on it, maybe k-var polymer ones. |

Thanks a million, friend. I wasn't sure if that sucker was welded to the trunion or not. The plan is to take it off and probably put on some nice wood to make it look nice. I've actually yet to pick the rifle up, I put it on lay-away because I didn't have enough on me at the time to pay in full. Sure is nice though. The foregrips look good, the wood is nice, it's a bit blonde in color, but they will be stained nice and dark. Anyways, thanks for the help on that. |

mr. hilderbrand, removing the two machine screws that pass thru the top of the rear trunnion and threaded into the folding stock's pivot block will allow removal of your folder. then, you need to get the correct fixed stock screws from k-var and simply push a fixed wood or polymer buttstock into place. |
Their just standard stock trunions. They have the Tapco Romanian non-folding stock installed. |
