I have a 2001.

make sure you check it over good (sight canting was an issue at one time)

I like my 2003 model
shoots fairly well considering I haven't had a chance to sit at a bench and properly sight it in

I bought a 2003 SAR-1 and have put 2,300 rounds through it in six trips to the range with out one single problem!

Good guns for the money. I own 2 SAR 1s and 1 WASR 10 hi-cap. Go for it.

SAR1 is the best deal in town. I own the SAR1(2000) and the SAR2(2001); go and get it while still available.

After puttin about 1500rds, mostly rapid fire & plinking at trash, through my 2003 Sar1 over this summer I finally decided to sight it in at 25yds this last Saturday. I was quite amazed it was shooting just a little to the left of center & my 3 shot groups were touching!

Pretty damn good little gun!
