| Does it matter which direction the pins are drove out of the gas block? I don't know if they are straight or tapered like on an AR. |

Yes, originally they were tapered pins. Typically from the left hand side of the gun to the right hand side is the way to drive them out (for future prosperity).  They are not tapered pins, They are straight. And you can drive them out/in from either side. |
