How durable are the WASR's?   How many rounds have you fired thru yours?

I see the videos of of receiver flex compared to Mak 90's, etc.  Anyone have a WASR with a high round count thru it?

Mine's probably pretty low round count, but it's had 3-4K rounds through it (Plus whatever the Romanians put through it, it's from the late '70's-early '80s, if I remember right).  No problems that I can see.

What's a high round count?
I've got 5500 to 6 K through mine since '04. That's not much compared to my Chinese made AK, +20K.
If you're worried about the 1mm receiver failing, consider that the Soviet Union adopted it in 1959. If there were widespread failures, the AK would not have the reputation for durability which it has.
Further, thousands of semiautomatic AKs have been built in the US on 1mm receivers which are not fully heat treated. Those haven't had receiver problems. The fully heat treated WASR receiver isn't going to crack.

Around 4K. 3 years of use, A bit over 2K with no cleaning. Just a bore snake down the barrel

I doubt you could afford to wear it out, even though the russian stuff is pretty cheap.

Around 2K through my WASR-10, which is low, but had no problems. I think it would be quite a challenge to actually "wear it out"... You'd have to pop off so many round$ that you would not care about the initial $500 cost of the rifle anymore.:-) Would you happen to have a link to information about WASR durability concerns? I have done quite some research on them for my site and have not come across durability concerns yet, so I'd be interested to see.

I had about 8500-10k rounds through a WASR-10/63 before I traded it.  Twice it went over 3500 rounds without a cleaning.  Besides finish wear from a little abuse on my part it was like new.  Functioned perfectly, the only malfunctions I ever had with that rifle were caused by a couple of beat up old surplus mags with sticking followers and a bad case of Wolf ammo.  I was planning on keeping it just to torture the hell out of it and see how long it would take me to kill it.  Unfortunately ammo prices and a new house slowed my ammo purchases down...  kind of wish now I had kept it.  as the round count went up...  the rifle felt better, the action had really smoothed out.

I easily had 10k+ through my ban era WASR-10, and the only times I had malfunctions with it were with bad mags. I wouldn't be too worried about the receiver flex.

My SAR1 is a WASR's cousin, over 10K rounds, cleaned twice since 2000. Only one malfunction and it was by someone else firing my weapon. Romanians rock.
