I bought a WASR10 off Gunbroker, and the gas block is canted to the right some.

It's bugging the crap out of me..  Any ideas on how to straighten it out?

It's really not a big deal at all unless it's causing functioning problems. If you wanted pretty you picked the wrong rifle.

It's not a big deal as long as it functions and doesn't rub, all seem to have a slight cant; but the fit is "easy" too if it bugs you. Drive out the pins with a punch heat gas block or front site base with a torch, lay the rifle barrel flat on a 2x12 board and smack GB or FSB with a lead hammer the way you want to go till your happy with it, clean up holes with drill and re-pin. May need to soak in Kroil overnight first.  Seems crude , but so are the rifles. I've straigtend alot of FSB for people this way. Tip, remove all the wood and strip gun first.

Thanks for the pointers!  The front sight is canted to the left a bit, and the front post has been adjusted pretty far to the right to compensate.  I'm not looking for a beauty queen, I just want it all straightened out, and functioning smootly.  The torch will be coming out, soon!

Thanks!

This is a common problem. If you want an easy fix you can use a windage adjustable rear sight, surplus or tritium. Or you can pound out the pin securing the sight and pound on the front sight to the right and  then repin.

This^ . No torch needed. Make sure you pound the pins out the right direction- left to right I think (confirm that) and that you put them back in the correct  way too.

I think everything is 'canted' on my WASR-10..including the entire front end a touch off to the left. ...Must all average out because it shoots great.

Rubber mallet or hammer and wood block, 1 beer, someone to watch.

That's all you need apparently.

Be sure you check it out well before you change it to make sure it isn't that way for a reason.

For example, I wanted to fix my canted front sight until I realized it was canted because the rear sight was not parallel to the barrel.  The sight tower was straight but the the part that accepts the rear sight was machined crooked.

If I fixed the front sight it would have never shot straight.

I wonder if it took more work to determine how much to cant the front sight than the cost of an in spec sight tower.  I guess communist labor is free.

I think everything is crooked on my WASR-10...but somehow it all seems to average out..and the rifle shoots fine and the 'windage' adjustment of the front sight is centered up.

The gas block on mine is canted a bit left...the piston and rod on the carrier seems to have been 'tweeked/bent' to compensate...and I'm fairly sure the entire front end of the musket is canted off to one side a touch too...Shoots great!!!..
