Are the WASR10 bolts altered in any way to make then work as a single stack?  I have read that Bulgarian single stack rifles have the bolt tapered down to fit between the feedlips on the single stack mags.  They then feed poorly is converted back to a normal 30 round mag configuration.  Are the Romanian WASR rifles the same way?  I know that the earliest WASR rifles had smaller trunions that had to be milled out so it wouldn't surprise me that the bolt would be different.

I've converted single stack WASR's to double stack.
I don't believe they are different.  At least none of the ones have had experience with had any problems feeding after the fact.  But I never looked that closely to remember if they were different.

You could always buy a new bolt though.  Not a big deal.

i've done one wasr-10 hi-cap conv. and it opperated fine but the maddi misr-10 that i did had a narrowed bolt that had to be built back up and re-shaped. so i guess it maybe depends on when and where it was made. it is obviously more narrow. compare it to another bolt to see.

At least some WASRs have the bottom of the bolt narrowed to work with a single stack magazine. I own one and it works 100% with standard magazines.

Does anyone have a GP 1975 built from a romanian parts kit?  Would they have a wider bolt than the WASR 10 or did all the parts come out of the same bin after being modified?

That would be impossible.
WASRs are built in ROMANIA. The GP1975s are built in AMERICA. Quite a long distance separates the "parts bins".
The GP 1975 rifles have a feed lug which is unmodified. In other words it's wider than the feed lug on (at least some) WASRs..

Yes, I have a GP 1975 and a WASR 10/63. The bottom of the bolt IS wider on the Gp 1975. However, the narrow bolt on my 10/63 works just fine and I have never had any problems with it. One time, I did try to put the GP 1975 bolt in the WASR and the bcg would not close all the way.

This is what I was looking for.  I was trying to make sure that the GP1975 wasn't made from pre-modified parts from the same source as the WASR rifles.
