This is my first AK and I have a couple of questions. It came with the black handguards and I would like to replace them with blond wood. Is all AK furniture interchangeable? Ironwood Designs has some of the best looking stuff I have seen but is expensive. What do I need to look for at the gunshows to make sure they fit?
I bought this instead of a Saiga because I wanted the underfolder and was concerned about issues with Century AK's but checked this one out before I bought it and it runs great. I went to the range yesterday and got my round count up to about 300 and have not had any issues. I was getting 4-5 inch groups @ 100 yds shooting from a table. (no rest just proping my elbows on the table.)

This thing is a blast to shoot. I am now looking for Draco pistol to go along with it.

You can find blonde wood already finished online if you look hard enough, since you have a WASR it's wood is interchangable with almost everything minus Yugo AK's, and Polish Tantal's upper handguard

Nice, I picked up the same and also a regular wood stock Wasr 10/63 on saturday.

Hand picked them, so sights are straight on both. Wood stock wasr has a little side to side mag wobble, should be fine. The underfolder has the side to side wobble as well and the a little up and down, about 5mm or so. Dont think it should be a problem, but i'll see. Only other AK's ive had were all tight lock up, but had dimpled receivers.

Also, the bayonet wont fit on my underfolder. Since I bought both, I have two bayonets; one being like new and the other WELL used. Both fit on my wood stock wasr, but neither fit on the underfolder. Could the bayonet lug be too wide on the ears? I'll have to pull my calipers out and measure them tomorrow, may just file a little off the sides of the lug. Sights and gas blocks are straight and it lines up, just wont click over the lug.

Finish was good, I grabbed the best that were at the show so there arent a shit load of scratches like some had. Fit is as to be expected. Last wasr I had was in 2004 right when the ban went away, and had the same bayonet issue, and the slant break was on soo fucking tight it was practically permanent. Both these are loose and unscrew by hand, which is good as I want to get a suppressor for them.

Happy overall, now I need to get some nicer wood (after I destroy the current set trying to refinish it lol) and some of those new manufactured drums from romania/korea.

Oh, the slings were total shit. Leather that was falling apart and didnt have the ring to attach to the sling loop. Under folder came with 1 surplus mag and a tapco, wood stock came with two surplus.

Paid $449 for the wood stock Wasr, and $489 for the underfolder. Only a little more than it would cost to order one from jgsales or classicarms.us with the FFL transfer fees/shipping, and I got to hand pick them so im happy!

I hand picked mine also but have the same issue with the bayonet. I haven't spent any time trying to fix it yet, I have been spending my time shooting it. Mine also has some wobble but it feeds fine. I will figure out what is needed to attach the bayonet and post it.

The upper and lower handguards for all Warsaw Pact AKMs (stamped receivers) are interchangable, but often a particular piece requires minor fitting.
AKM and AK 74 stocks will fit, sometimes requiring minor fitting.
