I want to install a wire stock on my WASR but I don't want to buy it if you can't aim with it. The reason I have this concern is because I held a Hungarian AMD-65 with a wire stock  the other day and when you rest your cheek on it you can't see the sights (your just looking right at the rear trunion). Is it the same with the Romanian stock?

The Romanians made two versions of the side folder - lever operated and push button. In addition to the difference in the way the lock is operated, the push button stock is offset to the left, when viewed from the rear. The lever stock is centered.
I have a lever operated folder. I don't have a problem with the sights. YMMV.
Be advised that some people don't like wire stocks because the cheek weld isn't very good and the stock does transfer recoil to a smaller area of your cheek.

I am not a fan of wire stocks because of those reasons, the cheek weld is really what gets me though. I don't ever get to the recoil part because I can't see to shoot with em anyway.

Perhaps I'm just too simple however....

I have an extra wire excellent condition if you are lookin to buy also––I have seen Gabe Saurez use them plenty ––they mount up and don't affect your scope mount when folded and its not permanent.
Also if you place the rifle between your shoulder and pectoral (tactical)  they shot great.

I like the looks and portability of the wire stock.  Wrap your stock in 550 cord (para cord) for a more comfortable cheek weld.  It does rattle your teeth though when firing .  I carry mine in an M60 barrel bag!

A wire stock is put on a rifle to make it easier to transport in tight area or for paratrooping jumpers and also makes it easier to conseal. These are the reasons to have one other than looks alone. My AMD-65 is a tack driver but the stock takes some getting used to but you can most certainly aim with it.

I'm a lefty and the slight offset on the push button folder is very comfortable for me also it does n0t smack me in the face like the original wood one.

This is probably an old question, but my wasr 10 seems to have just a single tang cvoming out the back. If I bought a romanian wire folding stock, would it just screw right on or would i need a different trunion?

The Romanian wire folder is a direct replacement for the wood stock. No modifications to the rifle are required.
If you find one without the screws, they are 5mm. Buy them at the local hardware store. Get a nut too and cut to length.
I like the screws that take a hex head wrench. The taper on the bottom of the head matches  and so does the finish.
