Greetings,
I'm a newbie here but I've been reading the posts for quite some time for valuable input. I just recently threaded the barrel of my SAR-1, bought back in 2001, yes I'm slow. I got my threading kit from Precise Innovations, as well as, an AK-74 style brake for 7.62. I followed the instructions and my barrel is now threaded. The brake fits well & has no wobble. My question is this; When I tighten down the brake all the way to the FSB the notch in the brake doesn't align with the retaining pin. If I back off a little bit the notch aligns but there's a tiny amount of space between the back of the brake and the FSB. Is this okay? Or have I messed up? I saw something on the web about indexing the barrel to make the brake align with the pin when fully tightened. Did I mess up? Any feedback would be appreciated. jfl3 |

Wow, you folks are pretty fast at responses.
So, it's safe for me to assume that a small amount of space between FSB and brake is okay. I just didn't want to cause a problem at a range with my barrel blowing up or my brake flying off. I know the AK pattern is user friendly but I just wasn't sure how friendly. Thanks for the input, Gentlemen & if any others have some insight please put in your input. jfl3 |
