When did the Romanians start producing the PSL Rifles? How do you determine the year? Mine is Q-18xx-75 RO. So is mine made in 1975? I thought they used old parts on new recievers? Any help appreciated. Thaks |

Yes - the last 2 digits are the year. I don't know many details beyond that. I'm thinking your gun came with a leather sling? I have a 1980 and mine did and it's nicely finished. Sorry that I'm "stupid on this rifle" - but I just got mine. |

I thought they used old parts on new recievers? The rifles are rebuilt on new receivers because the original receiver had the holes for the evil third pin for the safety sear. The BATFE says that makes it a "machine gun" and threrefore prohibited from importation. |

Thanks for the previous links even though i have been to each of them a couple times. Their is just not alot of info on these rifles compared to many other guns. Now since we know they are using new recievers, because the original would be illegal, how would you determine the date? Mine Q-18XX-75 RO. My recever was not made in 75, would they be dating the parts used . Like another example my GP WASR 10/63 IS BP-49XX-86. So you are saying it would be made in 1986? I wish the Romanians dated their firearms better. |

What numbers are you going by, receiver or original parts?
If it's the receiver you might not never now the exact date. If it's the original numbers (bolt, bolt carrier, things like that), the original seriel numbers will be a letter followed by the seriel number, if you have these numbers on your bolt/carrier use the info from Surplus Rifle Forum. On mine the original parts have an E followed by a 4 digit number, making mine a '76. |
