My PSL came with the earthly remains of a leather sling-no hook and a nice chunk missing from it. Will a standard AK sling work or would it be too short?

I have put a regular AK sling on mine and it works fine... The standard AK sling is just about 4 or 5 inches shorter than the standard PSL sling.
I'm 5'9" ... 160lbs and have a pretty wides chest... so YMMV ...
