Hey got lucky Tuesday an found a WASR3 for 400 with a sling and 2 mags (sheet metal). So of course I took it home. Now what I want to know what kind of issues I could have with the rifle. I have read a lot reports of jaming, and want to know what others have done to fix it should it occur (will help with not ruining my day if she does). She looks good. No real signs of wear on her, no cant of any kind I can see, and zero mag wobble. Also is it safe to fire 5.56 in it? And what twist rate should it have? I will take it to the back yard tomorrow to test her out., and decide weather to keep it or trade for a 7.62 AK.
Finaly got the pic up. And I know a Nstar scope, it was a gift from my girlfriend had to use it...

Congrats on you purchase.  When I had the first two I had problems.  The dealer ended up sending them back to CAI, where they were fixed and returned.  Now I have zero problems.

The CAI manual says that it is for .223Rem or 5.56NATO.  I have fired a few 5.56 from mine without issue, about a hundred rounds of it actually.  I did not have any problems with it afterward.

Also, keep it.  It is a fun gun to have.

Congrats on the purchase, and I hope you got a functional/flawless rifle.

Congratulations on your find.

One of the better ways to learn about your rifle is to go to http://www.gunsnet.net/Linx310/index.shtml and read the "Resources" and "Tutorials" on the left of the page.

Well I’m on my lunch break and came home an dumped a mag (promag) with no FTF, FTE, or any thing. Went bang every time! Latter tonight if I have time I will see how she does at 50 yards.

Glad to hear it.  I too have used promags with great success.  The consensus here is that they are trash though.  I am not sure why...

I have never tried Promag because of their rep, but they just came out with .223 Saiga mags so I may try them after all.

If you decide you don't like the Wasr-3 I will trade you a Wasr-2 for it. Seriously.

I've used mine with pro-mags, the EG bakelite conversion mags, and the romanian copies of the weiger mag.

I just got some Yugo M-95 mags that fit into the gun, but I haven't had a chance to try them yet at the range.

Mine had to go back to Century, the bolt carrier wasn't going all the way forward on the rounds, I'm guessing insufficient headspace, but they fixed it, sent it back and haven't had a problem since.

Funny thing is i had the SAME problem first, bolt carrier wouldn't completely close.. greased the rails a bit, and fired a few hundred rounds, fixed that problem.. THEN it failed to extract!! the extractor spring was too weak, so the shop i bought it from swapped me bolts with another they had hanging on the wall (that illegal?) now it extracts, but still bolt over bullets..

these aer the WORST rifles i've played with from the WASR line... but i want mine to work so i can have an ak in every caliber.. its just gonna be a long road to get there :(
