I'm confused... I have this parts kit. I was told it is a 7.62x39 Romanian MD63 Underfolder. http://i85.photobucket.com/albums/k68/white_blur/AKkit.jpg Then I see this picture on Wikipedia of a Romanian soldier with a caption that calls my parts kit an "AIMS" (a Romanian version of the Russian AKMS). http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/5/54/Romanian_AKM_Soldier.JPEG/180px-Romanian_AKM_Soldier.JPEG Can anyone identify what the rifle in the parts kit is...with some level of certainty?? Thanks in advance. |

There must be an MD63. This can't be a coincidence... take a look at these three. www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=104730577 www.cheaperthandirt.com/WX209-1.html www.theakforum.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=533098&sid=f2f46bd606e244ecb22daaf97a1b899f And I can go on... just Google " Romanian AK47 MD63" |
The Model '63 (MD63) is simply another name for the AIM, which was adopted in 1963. The correct term for your gun would be either AIMS, or MD63 Underfolder. |
Different countries, different ways of doing their nomenclatures probably. |
