i put the ultimak gas tube with rail on my wasr10 and its perfect. i put a cheap tasco red dot on and it works fine. the forward mount is good for red dots, but its mounted so far forward that is all its good for. ive heard some bad things about the side mounts, thats why i went with the ultimak. it costs about 100 bucks for one but i think its well worth it

Hello Sargentjim--

ScoutScopes. com  sells an AK rear sight scope mount that's a real beauty.  It replaces the rear sight leaf and is extremely solid .  It is also easy to install.  The rail is a picatinny/weaver-type and is de-mountable without losing "zero", if the mount has been installed correctly.  The unit comes with one rail for $69.95 + s&h.  Additional rails are also available for $19.50/ea., so that, with one mount, you can set-up 2 or more scopes ready-to-go.  A really neat feature is that with the rail dismounted, the base is a quite accurate square-notch sight .  I have one mounted on one of my SKS carbines and it is the best no-drill/no-tap military rifle replacement sight I've ever used.  There is a good write-up on it  at  SurplusRifles.com.  TOP QUALITY MDSE.  I don't work for them and don't get a commission, but they're so good I am enthusiastic about reccomending them.
