| Is a little mag wobble side to side a big deal? and if so how do I fix it? Picked up a WSAR 10 a few weeks ago. I haven't shot it yet but I stuck an empty mag in it and it wobbles side to side quite a bit. So the question is how much is too much and what's the cure? |
| If its not a lot it shouldn't be a problem, But if it bugs the hell out of you like it did me, there is a way to fix it. I found it here. Mag wobble fix |

You can just go to pep boys, murrays, autozone etc. and pick up some JB Weld. Its like a moldable metal basically and you spread a thin layer over the magwell supports. Let it dry and spread little by little and test fit the mag until it has the tight fit that you want. Never had any problems. PS: I think its only like $2-3 |
Thats what I did it is works very well |

Thanks all. I was thinking along the same lines as the JB weld suggestion but with Brownell's Acra Glass. It's a new rifle and I haven't even given it a good scrubbing yet but I test fit a few mags and they differ in degree of wobble but all do it. Seems like the norm from all I've read. Once I get it cleaned I'll try the Acra Glass and let you know how it turns out. Thanks again. BTW, been lurking here for a long time mostly on the survival page. Great web site all around though. |
| Yea a review of that product would be great, ive never used it. If your considering refinishig your rifle may I suggest brownells bake-on laquer. I used the flat black and love the results, but I need to get more to add another coat or two and maybe a clear coat also. I will post pics once I get a good cam. |
I've used it on different jobs always with very good results. The latest was fixing threads on a .22 cal rifle that had a stripped out forearm band. I ran the screw through the opposite way so it stuck out on the inside after I sprayed it with release agent then I mixed the Acra Glass and dabbed a little around the screw then backed the screw a few turns out to get the product into the space I needed new thread. Once it set I removed the screw. All that's left is to clean up the inside of the forearm band and run the screw in to make sure the new threads are good. The stuff works great. I'll try to post pic's of my AK when I get it done although it may be a while. |
| The author of this thread, www.gunsnet.net/forums/showthread.php?t=290399&highlight=WASR+dimples, describes how he stopped the mag wobble in his WASR. |
That thread worked great! No one can top my hoopty rifle now! K Var furniture, Red Star trigger, and no mag wobble!
