i have a Romanian AK47, how can i find out what year it was made.

Is it a G-kit? If so, the year will be right near the arsenal marking and the kit's serial number. Mine was made in 1980.

If I am not mistaken, and I'm sure someone will tell me if I am, you can look at that same spot on a non"G" Romanian and you will see a series of numbers with a dash and then 2 numbers. The last two numbers are the year of manufacture.

I don't know as far as the commercial guns go, but the Romanian WASR-10's all have a serial number, then two numbers separate at the end which presumably, are the year manufactured. If that's true I have one made in 85, 86, and 79.

On the SAR's, the year is the first two digits (then a dash) of the serial number...although I've heard that some of the later ones had a four digit year (mine's a '99).
