When I pull the bolt back on my WASR and slightly ride it forward it will stick open. Is this normal or a malfunction?

Normal, mine does it, I only leave it open, if I shoot very rapidly, and I want to cool the barrel, or just to show me it's empty.  I would only worry if it is doing this when you let the bolt slam shut.

Normal...my Romy and Yugo do the same thing.

Normal...the carrier is just getting caught up on the trigger group.  Harmless AFAIK

Does it inter-fear with operation at all if its getting caught up?

If it only hangs up when you ride the bolt it's fine. I had an out of spec hammer that would catch the bolt even when I let it forward under its own power. Thankfully I had a spare that I could use.

My G kit build does it when I slightly ride the charging handle forward.  It has not once caught up while firing (about 1000 rounds total) and if you charge it properly it will not hang up.  I have heard that some rifles will stop doing this after a few thousand rounds after the parts "get used to each other".  Personally I find it useful as a BHO feature, so I don't want it to stop.

Just about all semi-autos hand guns and rifles will hang up if you ride the bolt, slide, etc.

Solution = don't ride the bolt.
