There are about 100 posts on this website that summarize this option for thumb hole stock MAK-90's.  You can simply read through them and get your answer that way.  You may opt to use the search engine, etc...

Good luck.

K-var has some very cool stocks.  Any stock you will have to file or sand a little material to make sure it fits very snug.  They are usually slightly larger than the receiver.  I just took a dremel with a sanding wheel.  Take your time and it's pretty easy.  Being a mak you don't have to worry about removing the existing stock crammed up inside the receiver.  Sometimes it takes a tow truck to remove the stocks.

I've used K-Var poly stocks. Takes a little fitting because the Chinese recievers are thicker than Euro's. I've even put(know I'll get flamed for this) a Romy side folder on one. Also have one with a collapsible AR stock on it. If you are looking for a traditional butt stock check out Poly Technologies. I've got a NHM 90 I'm going to put a Chinese set on. It deserves the right wood.

Well, I did a few searchs and looked at every active thread and I can't find anything on the subject but this thread. With only a 30 day search, that's not hard to believe. I'm looking to replace my MAK-90's current stock as well so I'm asking too.

I've seen the SAR side folders at places like CAI but I don't want to make any mods to my reciever (straight cut stamped). Looking at everything available there's a lot to sift through and it's hard to know what will and won't work, or what can be made to work without mods.

I'd prefer a folding stock but if I can't get that I'll probably just get the PolyTech Stock Extension / Recoil Pad for $6.95.

Black_Snowman,

The Romanian folder is a poor choice for a MAK-90.  The receiver is thicker and will require the folder mounting block that inserts into the receiver to be filed down.  Once you get it into the receiver you will only have one screw hole that will line up anywhere close.

If you want a folder you might want to check out ACE riflestocks.

The original buttstock can be obtained from polytechparts.com but then you have to install 5 to 6 US compliance parts to remain legal. (6 if you use a muzzle device on a threaded barrel).

If you have a slant cut or milled receiver you almost have to go with an Ironwood Designs stock to get a good looking fit on the buttstock.  The Ironwood design stock counts as 3 US parts so you only need two more if you don't use a muzzle device. Mag followers and baseplates on each mag will do.

Volunteer Ordnance Works will sometimes have Ironwood Designs stockset for sale for about $60.00.

I put a Romy side folder on my NHM 90 with no filing or modification. It fit tight but caused no problems. Tru, only one screw holds it, but it's never come loose. I used locktight on the screw. Ace stocks are great, if you can afford one. I'm going back with original Chinese wood on the NHM because it just seems right plus I've already got side folders and one underfolder.

I'd probably put the origional stock back on if I had it, but it wasn't included in the deal. Looks like if I go with a folder, I'm going to go with an ACE. Ya, it's three times as expensive as some of the competition, but it looks like it's worth it.

Damn, the more I look at the Ace stock the more I want one.
