I saw a Ak at a recent show that I did not recognize that a guy was selling. He said it was a preban and it was marked a "Prochine". Looked real good, but I wasnt' sure if it was a trick or fake. It had a 87 serial number. He said it was like a Poly, but less of them around. Anyone know what it is? Or did I miss a good chance. |

what was the stamping info on the rifle...other thasn the "87" partial serial number? if "87 WAS the entire serial number, i think it's reasonable to assume it to be a pre-ban rifle. only a detailed inspection by a person knowledgable in the sino-ak's should be used to verify that. was it stamped with a "66" in a triangle or a "386" in an oval? did it have a bayonet lug? |

It was 87 and then a 5 digit number. It had a bayonet that had the same S/N, or at least the last 4 numbers of the ones on the receiver. It also said Prochine Corp AK47S, but no factory numbers or anything I was used to seeing. That kind of confused me, too. The bayo knife attached, not underfolded, and had a red bakelite sheath. It had 2 Norinco bakelite 30 rd mags, too. It had a importer name on the receiver, but I forget who it was so it was not name I am familiar with. Read nice wood...all wood. The guys still has it, I hope, and maybe I can get more info. I think he wants a little over a grand for it, and that's a lot of dough and I was afraid I was getting took....or maybe I missed a rare find? |
