Just bought my first AK. It's an all original Polytech preban .223 with the bayonet.
I really wanted/needed a preban (Im in NY) and I wanted something rare with a nice history, good look, and a good shooter! (Bought it to shoot, not to collect).

I wont have it until next week and I am so excited...so I was wondering if anyone here had any links to some good information on this rifle. Finding info has been extremely hard.
Also, if anyone has any pictures or videos I would love to see them to hold me over! (can't find anything!)

Thanks!!

The Poly 223 is less common than the Norinco 84S 223 and original mags for it are very expensive.  Why didn't you get preban Chinese AK in 7.62x39 if you were looking for a shooter?

I wanted something unique, and I wanted the quality of a polytech. And I didn't want a 7.62 but needed a pre-ban.

Plus I believe that these rifles should all be shooters anyway... regardless of their collectability.

I've gotten a lot of info on the mags from people (It comes with 2 and that's all I'll probably need for now)
But does anyone know any other specifics of the rifle itself? How many were imported? Etc.
Thanks!

The original  importing company is still in business......  sometimes they have been known to be helpful on the phone with questions pertaining to past imports....

Perhaps you can give them a call...... there website  is   www.polytechparts.com

Few year back i was lucky enough to have David Keng Sign my RPK .223 polyech stock,  one side he signed in english, the other chinese......i have a picture of him holding it as well......Probably thought i was a freak,
