Hi Guys-Im new to AK's-I guy locally is selling a Polytec Sidefolder with original red bakelite stocks. the topcover is a little beat up, the bolt needs some polishing( some surface discoloration) he does not have the original mag, only 4 aftermarket ones, one polymer. The internals are clean, no rust, He has the original barrel thread protector and an aftermarket muzzle brake. He is asking 800.00 with 40 rnds of ammo. DEal or no Deal? |

I bought one recently for $900, it came w/5-6 mags and a few hundred rounds of ammo. One of my favorites indeed. Make sure its a legit preban and not a converted MAK or B-WEST/USA, but even at $800 (with the furn selling for $400+) it would still be decent. 44 |

I just got him to send me a text message photo. I'll try and post it up if I can work it out. It is left side, non bolt. The grip is not what is in the gunbroker ad, not as angled-like a tango down ar grip, more traditional. It has the original muzzle protector nut installed, but the current owner has a brake for it. The topcover is scratched, thru the park-showing some rust, but the receiver, barrel and other parts are fine. Bolt has some finish discoloration where it was exposed, but internals are still shiny. Basically the story is that he bought pre-ban, treated as any AK...stored in the shed...oiled but un looked after and now wants to sell it. I'm hesitant because I was not really looking for an AK-really an AR guy...but have heard that milled receiver AKs are the ones to get and this price may be a good deal, even one to no pass up???? Good enough to snag and resell?? I dunno...help me out http://i1205.photobucket.com/albums/bb437/spacegoat1/PolytechAK.jpg The link was for a Norinco, they do have the angled/curved grip as pictured. I'd say snag it for $800 if you can get it. Keep it or sell it for $300-500 more on GB down the road. Good luck w/whatever you choose. 44 |

If its a converted polytech post ban sporter, id pass. If its a real AKS 762 its too good a price. This is the real deal and about what it should go for:

| I got more detailed pics-Its rougher than I thought, kinda thrown down the driveway rough. I think its genuine tho.,Left side is marked as follows: "386" with a circle around it, then Serial No. CS 034xx Below that is "MODEL AKS 762" "CAL. 7.62x39MM" "SEMI AUTO" then above the grip is marked "POLY TECH" "BEIJING.CHINA" I need to sell some other things tho, but the seller still has it. |

The markings are consistent with mine, which is an original Chinese pre-ban gun. I believe the "CS" prefix denotes a factory 386 side folder. |

Sounds right. If those are the markings and nothings ground of-buy it. Or give me the option. eta: ask if theres a cleaning kit in the inside of the stock. |
