I bought an AK pistol that came with a 75-round drum mag.  I'm sure it's Chinese, but the factory stamp is a circled 9396.  Has anyone seen these and, if so, are they wrth anything?

Yes that is Chinese. 9396 is the factory number.

They are no more valued than any other Chinese drum.  The new Bulgarian ones made on Chinese Equipment are exact copies and sell for $50. The Chinese ones are preban and have a higher value in ban states.

The .gov has indicted several people for importing those "Bulgarian" drums ... allegedly from China.

They are being made and imported from Bulgaria, Kore and Romania and I read from chinese bought equipment.

What makes you think some one was indicted. Indicted for what?

Importers will remark about anything that will satisfy public, open curiosity.  And sometimes they either don't know or don't what to know exact details.

Without going into details here, they're basically grey-market imports.

News reports on the case inform me that individuals were indicted.
The individuals were indicted for importing drum magazines which were manufactured in China, which is prohibited. The individuals claimed that the magazines were made in Bulgaria, in order to get them in the US, according to the news reports.

That is interesting, I didn't know that. They are even stamped "Made in Bulgaria" if I remember the picture correctly.

Either way they are still readily available for purchase for $50

They're given the appearance of being made in Bulgaria - the "10" in the circles arsenal mark is a nice touch to help make them appear to have that origin.  They've always been grey market imports.
