Picked this up for $400. Seems in pretty good shape. What do I need to convert the stock over to the traditional style ak stock/grip . Took the thumbhole stock off and it has the flat receiver. also, any other info on this is appreciated!

| Go to Ironwoods website & choose the wood you want. It comes unfinished so you can finish it yourself or pay someone to do it. In my case Z-recto matched my color perfectly. Then the obligatory US parts to get the 922 count to what it needs to be. Do whatever it takes to keep the Chinese trigger parts original, as they are the best. GARY N4KVE |

Congrats. Here is a parts count calculator so you can figure out what parts are available for you to change out to be 922 compliant.
http://thegunwiki.com/Gunwiki/BuildAkVerifyCompliance While I have heard the original fire control group is really good, I opted to swap it out due to its cost and ease to replace. I went with a set of wood from the "woodpile" section of the Ironwood site....$48 shipped for USA made wood is tough to beat. Edited to add.....your mag ain't seated all the way. I did that few times right off the bat too!!! |

Congrats on the MAK-90. You cant go wrong for 400. They are great rifles. Since you have no threaded barrel adapter, you will need 5 compliance parts
Assuming you want to be able to use any ma from any county, the cheapest option is........... Your 5 compliance parts Tapco fire control group $25 Tapco gas piston $10 US pistol grip $5-25 and for the stock, I sent you a PM. If you have more $$$$$ to spend, do iron wood, which counts as 3 parts, then you have 2 more parts. Unfortunately one would have to be a mag if you dong want to change the FCG |

400.00 I'd say you did pretty good. One of the nice things about that Mak is it has the neutered forward sight base which will make it real easy to install one of those very expensive underfolding bayonets. The barrels with out the long FSB are not milled down to accept the longer FSB. There is also welders around that can weld the ears back on that FSB for about 100.00. I'll send you the info if your really interested. You can buy the complete underfolder bayonet off Gun Broker for 195.00 plus shipping. Expensive but that bayonet would really be the perfect finishing touch if you de ban her. Personally I'd shop around for an original Poly Tech stock set before buying Iron Wood. Myself, I'd buy the parts to put her back exactly like a preban with all the correct Chinese furniture and parts. Except for the 922 stuff of course. That would cost you a few hundred bucks but you only have 400.00 into her at this point. The Poly sets are getting harder to find and more expensive but you can still buy them for 130.00. I think I pasted a picture of what you could end up with and a link for the correct furniture set. http://208.123.213.112/shop/shopdisplayproducts.asp?id=424&cat=AK+Complete+Stock+Sets http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=7&f=122&t=833391 |
