Through a gift from a family member, I've acquired a Norinco MAK90. I have the orginal box and the rifle has seen little (or no) use. I stripped the rifle yesterday and inspected for rust. I olied and put it all back together. All seems to work fine. I am new to AK variants and I am trying to learn about the rifle and better understand exactly what I have. To that end, the serial number on my rifle is 930xxxx. From prior research, I believe this rifle was manufactured in 1993. However, my rifles stock, while blonde, has little more than a hole for the thumb with little countour to fit the shooters hand. I've noticed other rifles with what appears to be a cheek piece on the butt and a much smoother thumbhole ... can someone shed some light on the origin and history of my particular rifle? Perhaps there is a reliable web site where I might further research this firearm. Thanks for all of your help.
