| Hi guys and girls, I have a Norinco Mac-90 Sporter, Caliber 7.62x39, s/n 9482xxx, in excellant condition and was considering selling it. I am wondering if someone can give me an approximate estimate of it's worth. It has a few safe scratches and has about 400 rounds through it. I would like to establish a fair price for buyer and seller. Thank you in advance. Willyjohn |

I was going to say $600.00. Post some pictures so we can see exactly what it looks like. I'd have said 600 also except I keep seeing shitty WASR's hitting 700 in person at gunshows and even higher on gunbroker. Its a gunsnob thing I suppose, my damn mak90s, a factory built commine gun is CERTAINLY worth more then a damn century WASR. |

He is in Arizona where I am and there are still plenty of rifles available though prices are going up even here. This is kind of the AK triangle with a large number of builders and dealers that kind of keeps the prices down as there are plenty of rifles on the secondary market. B-West was here and they brought in tons of MAK-90s which are still being sold and traded. J&G is still in business here so there are always AKs available.
If he sells through gunbroker he may get more. WASRs are in stock at J&G for under $500.00 and they have AMDs with FEG receivers for $620.00 (don't know how they got these) and AMDs with US receivers for $600.00. Yugo underfolders are going for $650.00 About a year ago I sold a BWK-92 for $450.00 shipped I believe and I sold 2 SAR-1s (unbanned) for just under $500.00 and a SAR-2 for $425.00. Kind of wish I had held off but most were local sales. I sold an AK-74 custom build for about $875.00 with matched bayonet back a few months before the election. I don't feel like I did all that bad at the time. I made money on all but one gun. I sold a number of pistols and two M1 Garands and made money on them all. I put most of the money in the bank but stocked up on 5.45x39 and .308 when it was still available for cheap so I guess it is a trade off as the ammo is much more expensive right now. I spend more time working on guns than shooting right now. |

I just ordered a Ciener kit for the ARs from Midway for $139.00, they had them for one day. Picked up 3 10/22s, a Browning Buckmark and I have 2 Ruger MKIIs.
Picked up 15+ thousand rounds of .22 LR ammo. Anytime I get near Walmart I pick up a few more bulk packs of Federal. |

If you are saying $600-$650 what would a new unfired MAK sporter be worth then? I have one sitting in my cabinet made in 94, still have all accessories just not the box it came in. Thanks Well thats a pretty easy question to answer, just watch gunbroker and the EE. NIB would fetch 750-850 but you would need to have the box. Collectors are into a complete package, as is I'd say 650-700 to a buyer. |
| Yes, i have to admit to being the one guilty of doing the Bubba whittling on the stock. Here is the story. I received the rifle brand new in the box with all the accessories from my oldest son for Christmas sometime prior to Slick Willy's watch. (can't remember what year) My chubby hand would not fit in the thumb hole very well , so I decided to do the mod as we see in the photo. Who would have even thought that this rifle would become somewhat of a cult status at that point in time? Maybe my son had more descernment than me. Unfortunately I did what I did through ignorance but on the ***** hand it sure does feel and fit a whole lot better. Thank you one and all for your interest. Willyjohn |

I just purchased a NIB Mak 90 off of gunbroker last week for $750 shipped and it was worth every penny. Every other NIB Mak 90 on gunbroker and the EE here has sold for close to this dollar figure. Seems high now, won't seem so high in another 5 years $750 does seem a little high, but as you said when you see a WASR sell for $700 it makes you wonder why buy a cheap AK IMHO when you can buy a Chinese. |
|
I'm selling mine for $500 with three mags. The guy buying it wanted me to put the thumb hole stock and tapco galil hand guard back on though. I had it set up with a romy folder and Bulgarian knockoff furniture in OD green. I need to ask him if he wants the Chinese FCG put back in also. Mine is in good shape with some bluing wear.
If he doesn't buy it and the deal falls through I'll put it up on the EE. Just didn't want to have to mess with FFL/Shipping. I think $500 is a fair price for what I paid for it ($300), and don't feel right going higher even if the market right now is going crazy. |
