| Local gunshop has an NHM91 that he said he'll sell me for 350 bucks. It's used but in very good condition, no rust or anything. One thing I don't like is that the previous owner drilled 3 small holes in the receiver to mount some sort of strange scope mount that I've never seen before. My idea is to take off the scope mount, send it off to have the barrel shortened to standard length, and while it's out have the holes welded up then put some US parts and an ironwood stockset on it when it gets back. I figure it seems like a pretty solid AK for a very fair price but I'm not convinced on if I should bite yet or not. Any suggestions? I haven't seen a hicap AK for this cheap since Obama got elected, may be a last chance kind of deal. |
| That price is pretty good, but find out how much it will cost to repair the holes, refinish, shorten and made compliant. And the new furniture. I think once you add it up, it won't be worth it. I have seen prices range from 450-800 on GB for everything from NIB to tricked out. One way to cut costs would be not to fix the holes, put a tactical mount/scope, shorten the barrel, make it compliant and keep the wood it has. Just my two cents. |
