Hello AK lovers. Picked this up about a month ago and am very happy with it!  First one I have ever seen in a gunstore for sale on the Used Rifle rack! It was a consignment deal.  What do you think? Not the best photos but, you get the idea!

Does that say factory 388?

All my polytech rifles say 386?

Hrm.

Ok, just got home from work.  THe factory number is "386". The picture makes it look like 388.  The bipod is supposed to be original to the gun. Looks like it is.  The stock and forend pieces have a few scratches, otherwise it is in great shape. No rust or corrosion anywhere and the barrel is bright and new-looking.  It has been fired but not much!  I love the fact that it has the proper cone flash hider. Supposed to be very hard to find.

I won't say the exact price I paid but, it was just a little over $1100.00 and I think I made out, big time!

My other milled AK is a Norinco MAK-90 that is in great shape too. Still all original and needs the Ironwood stock set but as smooth an action as this one!

Keep looking, the deals are out there.

That is some quality there. No mill marks, no electropencil, nice blued finish. This is the way it should be.

I believe your bipod is from one of the Chinese "RPK" style rifles like the NHM-91.  The Polytech National Match rifles didn't come with a bipod but great score that it has the conical flash hider.  In a strange twist, I've found a National Match conical flash hider at the last couple of gun shows out here.  Weird.

You are probably right about the bipod. It is a great fit on the NM barrel and looks as if it has been on it for a long time. I plan to just leave it on the rifle for now. It is wierd that you have found those flash hiders at gunshows! Never seen one around here and wonder if the ones you are seeing are of Poly Tech origin.

I won't be letting this one go any time soon. They are too hard to find and usually, more expensive than this one.

she's a absolute beauty! That gun is supposed to be almost as accurate as a AR15/M16.
that bipod really helps with the looks IMHO: ( I always thought they looked a little too weird but not your's ...and you got a great price on it.)

And that flash hider really makes the gun... very cool
going to shoot it or safe queen it?

wonder how it would look with a old Russian scope?

Nice find for a good price.  How does it shoot?

[#22]
Well, I have not shot it yet but, it has been shot by the previous owner.  I figure there is no reason for me not to shoot it.  Not in a hurry to shoot it right now but I will shoot it sparingly and keep it as my most prized AK ! It has a very slick feel to the bolt and Will be a blast to shoot as it is a HEAVY AK with the Heavy profile Steyr 20" barrel and bipod. Should recoil like a .22 rifle.
