The front end was stripped and reblued. The whole barrel was done. That came out very good. I don't think the pictures do justice.

The spike folder was installed and aligned then drilled.

I even reblued the bolt

Just sharing some home projects, hope you like em.

Looked kinda naked without the FSB but turned out great... got one of the FSB's from the spot we talked about in the other post but mine is in the white looks sandblasted..did you have to polish yours or did it come already finished??? The spike bayo. that came with mine is different than the ones on my Polys, the mounting point isn't hook shaped but solid with the a hole in it, once in place you wouldn't be able to remove it without trashing the rivet...which one is correct for the type 56 project with milled reciever I've got going on??

Mine came blue already. but had some dings and rust spots on it, so I reworked the metal and reblued it to match the barrel.

If yours came in the white, then I would polish it and blue it. The hard part is to put it on and drill all the holes without scratching it.

My Bayo is the non-hook type also. I believe there where two types but I dnon't know what ones went on what guns... I forgot where I saw a dealer selling just the bayo and pin for like 5.00 and I can't recall if they where hooked or not. I'm gonna search that one out again.

It's hard to tell from the angle and picture, but that front sight block looks pretty finely machined.  Is that one of the US copies?

what was it originally? MAK90 ? or?

also what did you use to re blue the bolt?

No, it's Chinese. Actually the whole thing is a investment casting.

It's still a Mak-90. I reblued with my bluing solution,cold bluing.

The cold blue came out very nice.  Which brand?

Could you describe your technique?

The solution is a bit of a Mystery because I got from and old friend who was a dealer for a VERY long time. When he gave up the business he gave me 3 gallons of this stuff along with a TOP SECRET recipe. He also gave me some old RUST buing solution. Thats a real pain in the ass to use.

I believe the solution is an older Brownels solution.

I've done my Thompson with this stuff and I think it's really great stuff, to bad I really don't know what manufacture is on the solution.

This is a older Pic. It's been modified since. It's got all the Bells and Whistles.

That's the best I've seen any cold blue turn out ..how does it hold up durability wise??You should really hang onto that stuff if it works that good, most of the cold blue today is junk and you can about wipe it off with your hand as far as durability goes, but yours came out great ... unitl you said something I thought it was hot blued....Yeah I have both types of bayonet the one that can unhook from the rivet and the one that once riveted is permanent.. I do need to find out which is right for that milled project though.
congrats. on your project  if no one told me I would swear it came from the factory that way!!!  .............The one in the white I have already has the holes for the pins in it (FSB)

This stuff is like an acid. Leave it in the solution to long and it will disappear completely!!! I put a FAL mag in once for to long and it looked like swiss cheese. This stuff is just as durable a hot bluing IMHO.  I use it on my clips, mags and drums too. I agree about todays cold bluing, it just rubs off in your hands.

The spike info I've been reading on doesn't say clearly what was used for what rifle. Read some of this. SPIKER

Where did you get the FSB assembly at?  Why the big secret? It is probably airsoft.  LOL

No secret..all you have to do is open your eyes, I know of 3 spikes on the market now. Airsoft??? you need to grow up some..

Where did that come from??  Grow up??  I was just wondering why the big secret of why you can't disclose where you got it. I am sure there are more than three spikers on the market right now anyways.  I am not paying ~$200 for the assembly.  I'd rather buy a complete/original rifle than convert a mak-90 anyways.  Is your rifle 922 compliant now or is that a big secret too??

That looks nice, especially the bluing.
I have a preban Poly UF, and was given a NIB Mak years ago, so I will de-ban the Mak and add the bayo like yours.
Just can't swing the $$$ for the front yet. I found furniture last week.
One thing at a time....
Still need to thread my muzzle too.
