I have a Norinco Mak 90 I bought NIB for $135 from a guy about 4 years ago.  It is the only AK type rifle I have really had any experience with.  I was just curious how it stacks up quality wise to the other popular makers of AK's.

You stole the rifle at that price.  Nothing wrong with a Chinese MAK-90, you just have to put about $150.00 into them and do a little work to unban them.

Now I know I'm new at these AK rifles, and supposed to be a dumbass about them, but could this have been one of those 3-hole receivers types I have been reading about ? Maybe the guy wanted to get a little something out of it before the J-B thugs came a-callin'.

If not, I am SO envious.

I know the guy pretty well.  He said he got it from his late father and it was just taking up closet space.  I don't know anything about 3 holed recivers.  I bought new furniture for it and all I have to do now is get a TAPCO trigger group.

It is crude compared to my AR's, but it runs like a champ.  The only thing it will not eat is soft points

They look cheap, well they are, but I have yet to have either of them break on me.  The triggers on the MAK's are great, smoother than I've seen on the Romanian AK's and even the Tapco G2 trigger

There is a picture in the Chinese section about the illegal receivers with the third pin hole.  ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=4&f=78&t=80299

Damn, didn't know that, thanks.  I checked and my Mak does NOT have the third hole.  So I'm happy.

So is it legal with the rivet through the third hole?
