Ordered this from Centerfire a couple weeks ago and finally had time to take it out today. Nice fit and finish, good solid feel and numbers matching except oddly enough the bolt. I tried it with 2 20 round and 2 30 round Tapco mags and 2 30 round Thermolds and all but one fit nicely without much wobble at all. One of the 20 round Tapcos just wouldn't fit.

Only put 160 rounds through it -too cold to shoot more!- but function was 100%. Accuracy seemed good too. The top target is a bunch of rounds fired offhand at 50 yards with the ones toward the bottom from before I adjusted the front sight a bit. The bottom target is 10 or so rounds from a bench at 50 yards. I was able to hit clay targets set on the 100 yard berm without too much trouble also.

I had planned on replacing the muzzle brake based on what I've read about the noise and muzzle blast/flash it makes but it wasn't as bad as I anticipated. Does a great job of cutting down on recoil that's for sure. I've got a replacement ordered from US Machine Gun that is basically just like the long flash hider used on old AR15 carbines but I may just leave it as is.

I will be getting some US made baseplates and followers and I guess a US made gas piston so I can start to use surplus mags in it if I want to.

Best part is that with shipping and transfer fee it was still $70 less than the place that handled the transfer wanted for their WASR 10s and that is before the tax I would have to pay on them, so really it was more than $100 cheaper!

Oh and that riser from AMD65tech is a huge improvement. Highly recommend!

This is mine I got from Centerfire Systems last week. 260 rds through and lovin it. Very accurate, surprised me. Adjusted the front sight, opened the rear sight notch, made a cheek riser and welded it on. I then wrapped it with paracord. The riser stiffened the stock and allows the rifle to be brought into the line of sight rapidly now. Wish I had four more.

I've been going back and forth all week about ordering one of these

After reading this I called Centerfire and have one on the way to my FFL

Good for you. The only thing is, the more people that read these good reports on the AMD, the less my chances of buying more in the future.
These really are great small carbines based on the AK platform. If you can fix the cheekriser to your liking, it is the perfect compact rifle. Me talking about it makes me want to call Centerfire again for another.

Nice. If I had some extra $ I'd buy another one myself!

Well........mine got here on Friday and I have to say I could not be more pleased. The fit and finish is very nice, no canted sight ,magazine is tight ,all numbers match including the bolt, and no issues with the first hundred rounds. Centerfire Systems  customer service is second to none, you get to talk to a real person who is there to make make your transaction a pleasurable experience, what a concept!

The fireball muzzle blast is a giggle machine, I can see that this rifle is one that is going to get taken along on a lot of outings. This has to be one of the "Beat Bang For The Buck" AK's out there.

Good shooting! The AMD is a surprisingly good shooter, and like you say, a barrel of fun. Nice job on the riser, too. What ammo were you shooting? Looks to be very consistent.
