I picked this up at a local gun show for $450. It still had the import tag on it from when it was sent to the states. I put a new top rail on it, laser sight, and a new carrying strap. I also had to buy a cleaning kit and a cleaning rod for it. I'm in the process of sanding the furniture right now and going to stain it with a brownish red color. Should be pretty nice when I'm done!

I tried looking up information on them and could barely find anything. Where did it come from? http://i28.tinypic.com/2r6jr6f.jpg http://i31.tinypic.com/331hm5v.jpg |
| Totally new to AK's so I was kind of guessing. How can I tell the difference between the AMM and the Sa85? I'm not sure who it was imported by... as far as staining I think it will look much better as the wood is kind of beat up and doesn't match very well. The scope is just preference. It will be nice for deer season! |

So is it an S85a with a different receiver? Does this decrease the value? I went and fired it the other day and it seemed to work really well. Should I switch out the receiver for a different one? No, it's an SA2000 that has been completely rebuilt. An SA-2000 is for all intents and purposes an SA-85M post-post-ban. Instead of the thumbhole wood, it had a goofy plastic Dragunov style. Instead of being double stack mag capable, it was single stack. Instead of a non-turned down muzzle, it was threaded and a large AMD-65 brake installed. Other than that they are the same, just made at different points in our historical bans. |
