Can anyone recommend an place that will thread an AK barrel?  I live in the Florida panhandle and there are no good gunsmiths in my area.

Thanks

Jim Fuller of Rifle Dynamics in Nevada. Very honest and professional.

A few years ago a few of us sent around a threading kit and just rented it. That might have been a different board though.

I bought a 14mmx1.0 left hand die on gun broker from wholesale tool. (cheap) I threaded one of my wasr 5.45s no problem. I did make a guide so as not to get it started f*****up. You need to make sure the end of your barrel is .550" for the 14mm die. I have another 7.62 ak that is .500" ?. I made a slant break and tapped it 1/2-28 like my black rifles and going to run the 1/2-28 die on the barrel.

I turned down a piece of round stock to fit the bore on one end then turned down the other end for the die, then threaded the one end of the guide. I started the die on the guide and put the other end in the bore and started it on the barrel and would turn the guide out as it came into contact with the muzzle a little at a time. Just keeps it straight. On my 5.45 I made the bore guide .212" and on the 7.62 .299". I haven't got the balls to do this to my Colt match target competition HBAR. Put a little oil on it and don't get in hurry, you only get one chance.
