I have a Post Ban SLR-101SB, that`s been needing of an unbanning. Well I got all the parts from K-Var (check here for details) https://www.k-var.com/shop/cart.php I have a few questions before I got to my gunsmith on Friday, does he have to just remove the old gas block and front sight block, and then install the new ones? I`ve heard that they have to be press fitted. If so what is press fitting? I do plan on shooting it a lot so I want it on right, not half-azzed and the parts go flying off. |

Press fitting, more or less, is forcing two parts to fit together that you normally would never think would. Once the parts are pressed into place, they should be pinned, as your current parts are. That will surely keep them from flying off. I'm not real sure about the U.S. parts on a -101, but I imagine they would be the furniture and FCG. |

Mbsk01 are you say that all he has to do is remove the old gas block and front sight block, and replace them with the new ones? The front sight block from K-var is http://www.k-var.com/shop/product.php?productid=16352&cat=290&page=1 The gas block from K-var is http://www.k-var.com/shop/product.php?productid=16361&cat=292&page=1 Hope this helps. |
the gun is already compliant in order to take high cap mags. It was made that way AFTER importation. Now that the AW ban is gone you can "de ban" it and the 922R compliance is already in place as those laws were already in effect when the rifle was imported. |
You could go with that FSB, or this one: www.k-var.com/shop/product.php?productid=16354&cat=290&page=1 You might also want to look into a cleaning rod and having the barrel threaded if you go with the FSB I suggested. |
