Hello all...I got to have some real fun with my Arsenal SA-M7. I took it to Bulletfest 6 (2005) in Ohio. GREAT MACHINE GUN SHOOT. I put 1200 rounds thru it (500 Barnaul and 700 Wolf...all FMJ). Most of the shooting I did with this rifle on that day was "bump firing". This gun bump fired great. I was bumping full 30 rd mags straight thru without a problem. At one time I bumped 5 mags in a roll, the gun become very hot, then I took aimed shot and had NO PROBLEM hitting bowling pins at approx 100 yds. The gun was so hot that I needed a leather glove to hold it but I could keep on hitting the pins w/out a problem. The paint on the barrel is a slightly different color now but it still looks fine. This was the 3rd time that I took this rifle to Bulletfets...I have NEVER had a problem with this gun. Take care, be safe but most of all...have fun, Medic 0372 |

What is accuracy like on the Arsenal rifles? I have a WASR-10, how much better would accuracy be on the Arsenal than the WASR? I am debating weather I should get the Arsenal or just stick with what I have. If I get the Arsenal, I will probably use it for practical matches. I need it to be accurate enough for that. Thanks for any info. Couch-Commando

I can not compare with SAR / WASR...Its been a long time since I shot an SAR. The Arsenals are pretty good. I have an SLR-95 and the SA-M7 and have used both for Tactical / Combat shoots and have done pretty well. When compared to an AR-15 with open sites and up to 100 yds they are just as good. I have competed in many matches where I have done better than ARs. I can keep all rounds on a paper plate at 100 yds while standing. Standing still or bench resting the AR will give much smaller groups but running around (like in tactical / combat shooting) the AK is just as good...with practice. I entered a match one time and the guy running it looked at me andsaid..." Hmmmm, an AK-47, thats the choice of the enemy...you can use it if you want but the ARs rule in this type of match." Well I used it and beat most of the ARs...the ones that did beat me had dot sites. It sure is fun beating ARs. NOTE: I am not bashing ARs...I have then also and do use them but I do like my AK better. Take care, be safe but most of all have fun, Medic 0372 |
When the Arsenal people get back from their vacations after the 1st, I'd call them and see if they could take the rifle back and refinish it for you. Couldn't hurt to ask. |
Mine bubbled right off the barrel and gas tube as posted in my post in ak discussions about how the flash hider on this rifle is useless. The flash on the SAM7 A1 is obnoxiously visible during broad daylight during rapid fire and the finish on the barrel, IMHO, is unacceptable for a $750 rifle. It was accurate, like Mini 14 accurate. A very nice AK, but not betond critique. The Arsenal SAM7 A1 DOES have room for improvement. |
What would the point be to having Arsenal refinish a rifle with a paint that obviously burns off? I think they need to rethink the spray paint theory. I have been shooting paint through a spray gun by means of compressed air for years. The paint is rather sub standard and the paint job is amateur hour. Not trying to bash anything or anyone, I like the rifle, but like a lot of things on ARFCOM, the Arsenal rifle is hyped. |
| Because the flash suppressor might have the Bulgarian finish on it, and it is, unfortunately, not nearly as nice as the finish on the rest of the rifle it was built here in the states, and the other reason is that Arsenal does care about putting a good product out and if their customers aren't happy, they will try to make you happy. |
That's cool. I just think it would be cool if they redesiged the flash hider and parked or used manganese phosphate for a finish. Then the Arsenal rifle would truely be a work of art. Mechanically, it is 300% right on the money. Seems like other guys have gotten tighter groups than I got with mine. I shot about 4" at 100 yds with it, which is still, by all means, very acceptable for a battle rifle. Seems like others have it dialed down th 2". I will keep practicing with it |
