My wife got me one of these today.  How are they compared to others out there?Do they still use the Steyr barrel? TIA Eric

The barrels were never made by Steyr, but they use the Steyr cold-hammer-forging process, which is excellent. In my somewhat humble opinion, the Arsenal Inc. SA-M series of AK's are the finest AK's that have ever been offered to US civiliians for sale, period. That's with 17 years of buying, selling, shooting, collecting AK's. My Arsenal Inc. AK's are easily as nice as my Action Arms IMI Galil in .308 win. Kiss your wife!

Thank you sir,that's what I wanted to hear. With just a little dry firing, the triger is VERY acceptable...especially for this type of rifle. Guess I did good for a Christmas/Birthday present this year.  Eric PS Any leads on where I can get some reasonable priced mags? I'd like to get the matching "waffle pattern" mags. |
I second these comments. I have the SAM-7s model (version with optics mount) and it's Fv<king awesome! The only thing I can think of that I would improve on is the muzzle device. although functional, it looks a bit awkward. Notwithstanding that, this is the absolute best built, new AK variant I have ever handled or seen. |
