Just a note: price check threads are not allowed on Arfcom.

Now to be honest, I am going to be have a fair degree leniency when it comes to this if it is a general request for information about a certain rifle and is not centered around the rifle's value.

BUT

IF it becomes clear that the main reason for the thread was the ascertain value, it's going to get locked.

IF it becomes a call-out thread, pissy argument, or bashfest it's going to get locked.

This was quite awhile ago but I want to ask for future reference.

I started a thread basically asking if I should buy a WASR at $550 or pony up $1000 for an Arsenal.

This was deemed a price check thread and as I recall a mod locked it.

Obviously I wasn't checking prices as I knew exactly what they went for, are threads like that kosher or no?

I would not lock a thread like that as a price check thread.

However, I could certainly see such a thread degenerating rather quickly, unfortunately.
