I'm not trying to throw up a big red flag here, but I just want to see what others opinions are on the following-

I have an Arsenal 107FR that I've owned for about 6-8 weeks now.  It is fired and cleaned regularly.  Today while reassembling it I noticed some light-brownish "stuff" seeping out of the seams around rivets, the plate between the PG and receiver, around the optic mounting rail on the receiver, by the barrel trunnion...pretty much all metal-to-metal mating surfaces.

Now, I know that Arsenal seems to do a pretty good job dunking their rifles in whatever crappy paint job finish it is that these have on 'em.....so I find it hard to believe that what I'm seeing is really rust; is it some grease, oil, or something?  I have no idea.

This is not a slam on the Arsenal rifles at all- it is very well made, and I have been having a blast shooting it out past 300 yards at my local range.  I just want to figure out what this stuff is!

I cleaned it again tonight and gave it a good dose of RemOil....hopefully this "stuff" clears up after the next few range trips.  I know my old SAR-1 doesn't show anything like this!

I haven't noticed that yet on any of mine 107FRs. I did notice it on my HDI, the first time or two out there was some goo seeping out around the optic rail but it stopped after a few outings. I don't know what it was.

weird. I stripped my entire 107 cr with MEK when I got it. Did not see any cosmo come out of it. I re-did it in Moly Resin. Perhaps they skimped on your parked coating that is under that gawd aweful header paint. You could be seeing the reaction of your cleaning fluid with the paint.

Red goo seeped out of the crevices of my 107FR's also.  I just made sure to douse the rifles with Break Free during cleaning.

Cosmo, nothing to worry about.

It isn't unusual for AKs to have grease seep out of some areas, I presume some kind of preservative (cosmo).

I know I saw what I thought was rust around my SA M-7's gas block but when it came out of the seam with a toothpick in the form of goop I caught on.

It's cosmoline.

It's very common with new AKs to have cosmo seep out from underneath the gas block, FSB, and all the other cracks and crevices.  I've never owned an AK that didn't weep that brown crud out of cracks when the gun warmed up.

Yes, it looks a lot like rust, but it's nothing to worry about.  Just keep cleaning and maintaining like you normally do.
