Thought I'd give you an update. I posted a couple of months ago that I'd bought one of the Bulgarian SSR-85-C-2's from AIM. To keep a short story even shorter, it was, shall we say, somewhat less than desireable. Cosmetics were bad, but the thing wouldn't get through 10 rounds w/o a malfunction. I also had to take a Charles Atlas course to lock a mag into the rifle. I sent it back to AIM and Bryan promised to hand pick me another one when a new batch came in. Well, I picked up the new one yesterday, about 5 weeks after sending mine back, and let me tell you it was well worth the wait. The fit and finish is what I was expecting the first time and was so disappointed. This one not only looks great, but the mags snap in perfectly and w/o any hint of wobble. The sights are straight and it shoots to POA out of the box. Most importantly, it (so far) is functioning perfectly. To sum it up, I'm more than satisfied with the rifle, but am just as happy and impressed with the way I was treated by Bryan all along the way. Don't be afraid to deal with him. Skip |

MP has a very nice one. He should put another pic or two up of it. Finished, wood furniture, not sure what else. My receiver has only made in bulgaria and isd bulgaria ltd on one side. Mine doesn't have the F and S marks for the selector either. Some others have houston TX on one side. Seems to be a lot of variations. The rivets are well formed and tight, mags fit very good, finish is parked and just needs a nice layer of duracoat. Overall a solid gun. |
