Does anybody have any favorite AK refinishers?  I have a Arsenal SLR 107ur that im going to have SBR’d but I want to have it refinished before I have it chopped and since this is going to be a NFA gun I don’t what to have to be shipping it off again later to get it refinished so it has to be something that will last a long time.

JimJones- you may want to look at the The Refinishing Forum ----> Refinishing

I looked at several topics recently and some companies were discussed but I cannot recall which. I wouldn't have 1st hand info though.

I know a lot of guys have undertaken their own projects successfully, which you may want to do, or find an affordable expert to do yours.

If I were SBR'ing an ARSENAL, I'd want a professional job done, as you are going to end up with a very special rifle.

Wouldn't you have it refinished after the barrel is cut? Otherwise you'll have the bare steel where the barrel was cut and any damage to the finish from pulling the FSB or other related work.

107UR has to have the gas block pulled because they put a grommet in the gas port. Likely it will need to be re-finished after this is done or even the gas block itself replaced because often this becomes damaged during the removal process.

Brian you are right
I don’t know what I was thinking

What type of finish would you guys recommend?  I have read good things on here about Duracoat.

Also who would you recommend to do the chopping I was thinking about sending it to Krebs but I don’t know if he does this?  I know that he is highly regarded in the AK world so I think he would be a good choice.
